Finding Master Right L.A. Witt.

Finding Master Right L.A. Witt.

ARC supplied by Netgalley and Riptide publishers

L A Witt is fast becoming one of my favourite m/m authors. I’ve read a couple she’s co authored, but this is the first from her alone. Its the same excellent standard as the others, and contains a loving romance as well as the erotic sex scenes. Chase and Derek have been long time friends but with other partners. Chase is a few months out of a 2 year Dom/sub relationship when his sub left acrimoniously, and has spent many hours talking things over with his good friend Derek. Derek is a sub, would love a relationship like that, but plays the field as he’s not found the right person and trust in that sort of relationship is paramount.
Chase is a great Dom, very caring and respectful of his subs limits. He was really hurt when Ian his last sub, let other Doms do what he safe-worded Chase on. Derek thought Ian was a jerk and messing Chase around, so when they split he was sad for Chase but not that the relationship ended, just sad that Chase was so upset.
Chase has already booked for him and Ian to attend a week long BDSM convention, and asks Derek if he wants to go instead. I have to say I loved the scene where they’re booking in and the receptionist says “ double room, two queens sharing” or something like that 🙂 Like Derek, it made me snigger…..Derek, he’s a lovely man, and slowly him and Chase have become closer but not realised it. Its beautifully done, the way we readers can see what they both want and yet they both shy away thinking if they take that step and its unwanted they will lose the great friendship they have now.
Loved the story, had some sad moments and some very loving ones. Some hot sex too of course, but the romance was the main focus and that’s important to me. My BDSM knowledge comes purely from fiction novels like this, so I keep meaning to look up if “furries” at these affairs really are as I imagine, people playing animal dress up?? I have a difficult time seeing that as erotic, so I’m certain I must have got it wrong…but who knows.
One thing I always find difficult from US authors is the use of the terms “baby, babe” as endearment. I’ve mentioned before how it seems to be a US common term, but very rare in UK, and it just feels wrong to me to hear two hot, built men (especially when they have tattoos) calling each other Baby or Babe…especially as in this book two of them are “bears” ( really must look up that Furry term…my mind is in overdrive here..)
Anyway, a great book, well written and edited of course as it usual with Riptide. Priced at £3.92 for 135 pages its quite expensive on my VFM scale but re reading – and its one you’ll want to re read – brings that down, plus of course these books do seem to command a higher price. Supply and demand for quality BDSM GLBT novels I guess.
Stars: short but good – full five.
