The Accidental Call Girl. Black Lace Classics. Portia Da Costa.

The Accidental Call Girl

ARC supplied by Netgalley.
I do enjoy erotic romance πŸ™‚ so I thought this would be fun…and it was. Lizzie ducks out of a party into the adjoining bar for a few moments and meets John. He mistakes her for a high class call girl and on a whim she goes with it. He’s sex personified and she has such a fabulous session with him she agrees to meet him again. The attraction takes them both by surprise, but Lizzie isn’t the only one hiding secrets.
It covers a fairly short timespan and we meet Lizzie’s two flat mates who are both great characters though we only see them briefly. The main focus is on John and Lizzie though and their hot, steamy, erotic interactions…they’re really well done, no yucky icky phrases, and some great humour tucked in. Lizzie is sexually inexperienced as far as BDSM goes but John slowly introduces her to it in a gentle soft way. Some spanking, bondage and blindfolds – nothing major to frighten off inexperienced Lizzie – or readers πŸ™‚ . These scenes are very seductive and sensual, and really fit well the storyline. Lizzie keeps telling herself she’s only with John as he’s paid and not to expect any kind of relationship and yet..slowly she’s falling in love with him. John too is entranced by Lizzie, she’s fresh, honest and expects nothing from him even when she knows his true standing in the world. Its a change from ladies in his past, and he has to keep telling himself he doesn’t want more – that only leads to let downs and troubles.
Of course in time secrets are revealed and there’s tears, both Lizzie’s and mine! I really got β€œinto” this book, feeling emotional for poor Lizzie. Despite just going into this for fun, she’d fallen for John but was convinced he only wanted the gall girl and not the person she really was. I loved both characters, they felt so real you can’t help but feel for Lizzie, and her sense of humour and John and his sexual touches…phew is all I can say!
Its a well written erotic romance, one of those with lots of hot, steamy sex, but that also has a solid story which is what I need. I’m not interested in those books with just page upon page of sex and a brief excuse for a story, no matter how well written. I need a proper story and Portia has done that. I’d love to read the follow up novel that’s just out too, which continues on with the duo and their relationship, and of course the final in the trilogy. I’d have liked a bit more on the sad part though – it was quite brief and I need to wallow a bit in the emotion..its priced at Β£3.66 for 320 pages/420kb so reasonably priced for fun, sexy read.
Stars: four, a good erotic read with a solid story backing it.
