Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.

I was really excited to see this, Jeaniene frost is one of my favourite paranormal authors, and I just love books involving Fae. So opened it eagerly and dived in.

Its an easy to follow read, and has characters including the supernatural ones, that feel real. That you feel you could talk to and understand. The Fae abilities too are clearly set out – I hate those where some new unheard of power taps in just at the right moment…

Beth, her Ex Frank was a real jerk, they’re working together and as usual he’s taking advantage of her talent. He’s a user of people, discarding them when he has no further use and fitted really well into the story, giving us a male it was fine to dislike 🙂 we need people to dislike as well as those to love. Beth, she was sweet, she’d clawed herself up from a poor background against her families wishes, and though Frank ridiculed her abilities he was happy to use them. When they uncover a Fae site and release Conn there’s all sorts of potential problems. Conn starts off as you’d imagine, typical unfeeling Fae, ready to use and abuse humans. Then he meets Beth, and falls in love, and seeing how she works and helps people gives him an insight into how times have changed since he was entombed, and how he needs to change too.

There’s an extraordinary battle between Fae, humans, other Fae and Druids. Beth’s life is in danger and she seems to just escape from one situation, only to be caught up once again. Along the way she’s learning more about Conn and the Fae, herself and her abilities. Conn does his best to help even when it means seeking out an old enemy, Miach who is a Fae sorcerer and very dangerous. They find though that this time they need to be on the same side. The scene is set for a cast that can carry further novels in this series, which has a fantastic blend of sensuality and sex, action and adventure, fiction and fantasy, but wrapped up in a core of reality that makes it feel as though this could really happen. Overall – loved it 🙂 and look forward to more.

Priced at £3.99 for 259 pages I’d have liked it to be a bit longer, the storyline could have carried it as its so full of drama and detail but…that’s me and my love for looong books 🙂 ( I’ve shadow of night to read next at nearly 600 pages – goody!)

Stars: 4. Excellent start to a new series, and a bit longer to expand the story and I’d probably have gone for five.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
