Undeniable, Ashley Simone.

so, todays post slightly different. New author Ashley has written the first part of a trilogy, and it’ll be out soon on amazon, so i’ve posted goodreads link and her blog link instead.

Undeniable, Ashley Simone.
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book Reviews.
So, I saw this and thought it sounded like a fun read. Its Ashley’s début book though, and I wanted more info, as I’d seen it ends on a cliffhanger. I wanted to know how many parts and when they’d be released. I’m so, so tired of waiting for next bits of a series, duo, trilogy that takes years to appear, or sometimes never. One series its now been four years I’ve been waiting….others just seem to get abandoned at part two, and we never get the ending of the trilogy. I see new authors that have three or four “series/duos/trilogies” but each is only at part one….So I’m wary, even if its a free book – it still takes my time to read and I like completion, and choose to read books that deliver an ending. Anyway I spoke to Ashley and she sent me the following info “Undeniable will be a trilogy. With any luck, I’ll have part 2 up between April 17 – 25. Part 3 will probably be out in May/June.” So, I read it last night.
What did I think? Well, I feel Ashley has a terrific writing style, very realistic and readable. I was intrigued by Zac’s oddness, he’s clearly hiding something. I’m assuming he’s some very rich CEO or something, that would explain his secrecy, but why is he so odd in other ways. One minute hot and heavy, sexy and sensual then next minute cold, like someone has flicked a switch. Who can do that? And why? What has happened to make him that way. Then there’s Allie. Works hard to earn a living, after mum’s death it’s just her and her brother now, and they don’t seem to be close. That happens often as people get older, but its still family, and when Joel comes needing money – lots of it – to stop himself getting beaten up by drug pushers Allie wants to help. She doesn’t have $20,000 though and getting it in a week??
Just when I’m really “into” the story though it ends..very suddenly, with a horrendous cliffhanger. Now I’ve made my dislike of these clear, I HATE them, with a vengeance and mostly for that unknown next part, at unknown time and unknown price factor. At least here I know that more should be out within a few weeks, and the final part by June, all being well. That’s not so bad, I won’t have forgotten the storyline by then, and at around 20,000 its not too much to skim and catch up on parts.
Ashley being a new author and self publishing I accept there’s a lot to learn, but if she continues to write in this way, with excitement and action, sensuality and steam, and dialogue that feels genuine I’ll be more than happy to read more.
Stars: Four, cracking start. If it was a complete book it’s be a five star for me I think.
