The Second Time I Saw You, The Oxford Blue Series, Pippa Croft
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Stupidly I had another Muppet moment, and it wasn’t til I was reading this and kept thinking there was a lot of assumed knowledge, that I realised this was book two and book one is The First Time We Met which I haven’t read. I will though, as this is such a terrific story that its one for my rereading/keeper files. Despite not having read the first book it was easy to pick up the story, and like Lauren I was in love/lust with Alexander, but puzzled at his sudden character changes. Then there’s his younger sister, having secrets that Lauren found out, but she was asked not to tell Alexander…a difficult position – one of those where you feel for her as whichever she does is going to be wrong, and you know the secrets will come out just at the wrong moment. Then there’s the wonderfully wicked ex – she’s a perfect bitch, and I do so love one of those, adds much needed ( for me) drama, along with Lauren’s friend Scott….There’s snippets of daily life, tutorials at college with the sleazy Professor Rafe, college parties and other functions, Alexander’s need for support at a really difficult time, and she needs to learn how to handle his moods and secrets, it all adds up to a romance that’s seriously hot and sexy, tantalising and erotic, and full of the deep drama that I love. A cracking read, and I’m really keen to read the first book to catch up, and then to find out how the story ends. It’s a cliffhanger ending, but not a too horrible one, a mystery and it’s dramatic but there’s a hint of good in it too….What I hate about trilogies and duos is the long wait between books, but this one seems to have been brought out in a better way for readers like me, with book one out 14 Feb, book two 22 May and book three due 11 September so reasonably short intervals. I hate waiting 18 months or more between parts, I’ve lost the momentum then…but with a good trilogy like this, out fairly quickly, its also a pleasure to re-read all three parts back to back once they’re all out. Well priced too at £3.99 for parts around 380-400 pages.
Stars: Fabulous read, just what a love so a full five 🙂
