L’Amore, S.J. Molloy, Book 2 in The Luminara Series.
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Well, having read book one I was keen to get onto book two. For some reason I thought this was a two book story so was puzzled when I was over halfway through and we’d seen nothing of Michael Parks….when I finally finished the book, and its a long read, I found it’s actually a five plus book series though some of the later books may be about other characters from the series…
Like book one this is long, and usually I love long novels but… once again I found myself skipping endless pages of sex to get to the story. I like sex in a novel, but it dominates this to the detriment of what is a good story. Lexi began to annoy me with her “filing”, her one word lists and the fact that her friends were always supporting her, but we see little of her doing anything supportive for them. Lucca arranges things but Lexi rarely seems to think of them unless she needs them. I get she’s been through a really tough time but some of her reactions were OTT all the same. Lucca was the same great, loving guy we met earlier but he too was over reacting and behaving oddly at times. I liked the Kimberley jealous aspect – that always adds to a romance, but it was just a small part, though I think we’ve not seen the last of her. I hope not anyway – she’s an excellent protagonist.
Overall I think this is an excellent premise for a novel, but for me it’s too drawn out with pages and pages of sex that becomes tedious to me rather than erotic. Its almost as if any little thing that happens is an excuse for some sex, and it became mundane instead of sensual and special. I’m disappointed too to find out that its contained in so many novels, and though I enjoyed it I’m not sure I’ll continue to the rest.
Stars: Three – its a good book, and I’m sure there’ll be readers who love all the sex, but I needed more story and less sex.
