Third Time Lucky, The Oxford Blue Series 3, Pippa Croft
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
I loved, loved, loved books one and two – perfect blend of romance and drama for me, with some steamy sensual scenes too so would book three live up to those? Short answer – yes it did and I loved it.
We left book two with Alexander and Lauren having had a huge row, bitter words were said in anger, things difficult to forget and it seemed there was no coming back this time…and then Alexander was badly injured. This book picks right up at the hospital, Alexander has asked for Lauren and she’s there. Once she sees him that’s it once again, she can’t get past that electric connection they have for each other. Alexander had left her a beautiful letter knowing he might die on this mission, apologising and saying all the things he felt for her, and they talk again, seeing if they can move forward and forget the bitterness of the past. Of course the past always comes back and once again there are things coming up to block their way, and Rupert and Valentina doing their usual best to separate them and cause trouble. I do so love a good bitch and Valentina is perfect, just the right sort of attractive, sensual but grasping and manipulation amoral person that works in this role. Rupert too has a grip on the bad side of things, friend of Alexander and his family for a long time, but hates Lauren and determines she’s not going to stay with Alexander.
Emma plays a smaller role in this book, its very much centred around Lauren and Alexander, and once again their romance seems to take one step forward and two back with all the drama I love coming to the fore. Its tear jerking at points, and I felt they both learned and matured a lot in this story. Of course there’s the year end coming up fast and the big question – what happens then? Can they – will they – try a cross continent romance or just give it all up? How can they leave each other when feelings run so deep, but long distance romances aren’t easy and they’ve had so many problems when close connected so is there any hope it can work?
So many questions need to be answered here, what both Lauren and Alexander will do next career wise, whether they can continue their romance, what about Alexander’s dual role of Military and running the Estate? Will Lauren end up back under her loving but over-protective parents control if she moves back to US, but if she doesn’t then what could she do in UK? There’s so much drama packed in once again that its a riveting read and one I loved. Its a trio that will go in my keepers file for certain. The end is perfect, sorts things out for now but leaves it open for more books. I thought this was a trilogy but I’m not sure now by the way it ended, it could easily go further.
Stars: Five, anther amazing dramatic romantic read.
