Served Hot, Marie Harte

Served Hot, Marie Harte
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews

I’ve enjoyed Marie’s novels before but hadn’t read the first in this series. That’s ok though as each is stand alone, and part of a connected character link. This book takes Maya and Dex. Maya and her two friends vowed revenge on the three boys who they were at odds with in their teens. Dex had blackmailed Maya into a date, and though she enjoyed it she’s held a grudge ever since. Its part of Maya character that when she holds a grudge she can keep it up big-time, but it was something that actually annoyed me about her. this seemed such a tiny thing to still brood over, and as we got to know her better I found she was very quick to take offence. Of course she had a troubled childhood and abandonment issues, plus that whole mixed race thing that causes so many problems. Still though I understood the whys it didn’t stop me being irritated by her actions. She was a great friend and support to her two ladies, and the three were very close.
Maya clearly held strong feelings for Dex that soon turned to love. Dex for his part – what a guy, to keep coming back after Maya’s constant rebuffing…..he deserved a medal! He was convinced they were a perfect couple, and gave his all to make it happen. Along the way they get into some very sensual and erotic encounters. I felt the part where Maya backed off was a little thin- I understood her feelings, and having been subject to some forms of discrimination myself I can see how hurt she was, but her reactions didn’t really fit the incident. She was a strong woman, not afraid to stand up for herself so I found it hard to believe she would act like that without discussing it…still then we’d have a huge gap in the story!
If you’re looking for a heavy on the drama romance this isn’t it, but if you want a hot, easy to read story this is pefect.
Stars: four.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
