Tap Out, Cat Grant

Tap Out, Cat Grant
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews.
Genre: GLBT Romance
Well, this is the third in a series, and I hadn’t read the first two. They are basically stand alone books, although I think maybe I’d have been more invested into the characters and outcomes if I started at the beginning.
Its a nice mix of romance and drama, and everyday problems that beset people. I really felt for Aaron, he’d clearly been to the bottom and was slowly crawling back, and when things went wrong once again I was upset for him. It’s tough when you’re trying so hard and life still knocks you back. Tom was someone who took time to warm to – I could feel his anger and aggression, but understood it the more I learned about him, and Travis was just lovely – a great brother and uncle and a caring person.
Everything really hinges around the Gym, and Diner, and the characters MMA fighting background. Tom’s training for a career in it, but hampered by time and the problems of his lovely surrogate mum Gloria, Eddie’s mum, who they all love. Somehow the story weaves them all in and we see them working out their problems, coping with anger and jealousies and grief, and that’s so realistic, so just what happens in real life whether the partners are gay or not. I need that slice of realism to feel for the characters, and was keen for things to work out. Its got the perfect ending for me too. Having said all that in praise it was lacking some sparks – that extra bit that lifts a story and gives the “must keep reading” feel to it. I’m not sure why or what, maybe it was just that bit too everyday, too ordinary, just that it wasn’t a five star read but was a fun one.
Stars: Four– a good one off read but not one to re read.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
