Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Vampires…I love books with those in, so long as the story is good. I’ve read far too many clichéd, dull ones, but thankfully this one was a good series opener. Some adventure, danger, a bit of romance and some murder and mayhem. Made for a fun start.
Taris, he’s the oldest and is worried by the decline in numbers. For the last couple of hundred years they’ve been unable to  reproduce or  turn humans. He doesn’t want the race to die out, but nothing they’ve tried so far has worked out, and then he sees a TV show featuring Sarah’s work. He can see immediately that its got huge implications for the vampires problem, and sets out to get her help. The problem though is that there’s  a second faction, another vampire group, headed by the evil, murderous, bloodthirsty  Morrigan. they’re a cruel group, and they want her and will stop at nothing to get to her. They don’t care who dies in their schemes, and will kill Sarah as soon as her usefulness to them is gone.
When he meets her Taris is shocked by the attraction he feels to Sarah, and she takes some persuading he really is what he says. After all if someone came to you saying they were a vampire would you believe them? Want more proof than some teeth that could have been cosmetically altered? Sarah does too, but then events move incredibly quickly with the dangers from the other group chasing them, and before she realises she’s embroiled in a steamy relationship with Taris.
Its a fun read, great characters, realistic plots and a good mix of groups. Its always so much more fun when there’s an evil group too, and when its headed by a real bi tch like Morrigan that makes for some great story lines. I really enjoyed this start to the series. its fairly simplistic in plot but sometimes that’s best in a series opener, so we can get to know the characters and setting better. I’m not sure what’s coming next, there’s not really any hints from the story, but what is great is this doesn’t have any cliff-hangers, is a complete book on its own and for someone like me who HATES  being left hanging months, years even for the next part in a series this ending is perfect.
Stars:  Four, a good solid start and a great debut novel. I look forward to more.
