The Cowgirl Jumped Over the Moon, Linda Ballou.
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre:   New Adult, Literature/Fiction
I found it hard to find info on this read other than the brief description, but being a horse addict decided I wanted to read it anyway….I’d got the impression it was a romance – well, there is romance in it but its a very small part of the story, beautifully written and very bittersweet when it does come. Its really an essential part in the story of Gemcie’s recovery from the fall, her lost love, and her feelings about her father who she thought had died but learns he left them when she was just a month old. When the chips fall they fall big for poor Gemcie.
The equestrian side is written so well that I could smell the leather and sweat, feel the wind buffeting the flags at the shows, hear the whispers of the trees when Gemcie was out in the trail. That and the part centred around Gemcie’s trek through the mountains really made the read something special. I didn’t just follow along with Gemcie and the animals, but felt I was there with them, feeling the cold on my face, breathing in the fresh mountain air, and enjoying the solitude. I’m a person that likes being alone and years ago would have loved to have done something like that. I did have this idea about riding round the British Coastline one day, but the kids were young and by the time I was older I’d become disabled, so I enjoyed this second-hand view by way of Gemcie.
I was shocked at Jorge’s actions – and yet his mother seemed to think it was inevitable, just as his father’s infidelities were. Gemcie is different though –she won’t just sit back and take second place – good for her! She takes a hard journey though, and along the way learns much about herself, and some of her dreams/nightmares even that have haunted her repeatedly begin to make sense. I adored Brady, another who treasures his solitude. He was such a support to Gemcie, and proved to be what her heart had been searching for, and his waiting for even though neither had realised it. Still, could they be together? It seemed he needed to stay in the mountains, and she needed to return to Marshal, so it was heart-breaking wondering if they could find a way to be together or if that was it for them. I was so convinced they were perfect, and I do so need my HEA – and this time I really wasn’t sure I’d get it.
Stars: Five, its a wonderful book about Gemcie’s journey of discovery, of self and what’s important and finding her real happiness in life.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
