More Than Fashion, A Chasing the Dream Novel, Elizabeth Briggs

More Than Fashion, A Chasing the Dream Novel,  Elizabeth Briggs
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre:  New Adult, Romance
We’re on to book three now in the series. Each book is really fresh as the connections between them are loose, Julie who’s the main lead in this one did the costumes for the band who attended the Comic Con in the last one. they were there to support one of their members who was illustrating a book and got together with the girl who’d been writing it…and the band themselves were in book one with Jared being the lead character – see the way the web weaves?
Julie is nervous, and tries to hook up with a hot guy in the bar the night before – but too many drinks, too little sleep, leads to an anti climax (!) and embarrassment. Still, she thinks, she didn’t give her name, she never does, and its not like she’ll see him again. Or is it? There she is, finally made it on to the show, meets her fellow contestants and – there’s Gavin, AKA Hot Guy!
There follows a story of competition, envy and jealousy, backstabbing and bitching and to keep her dream of being a finalist – well, winner really…, she agrees to a pretend romance with Gavin. Its gets real though, very real and there’s some very touching and sensual scenes.
I loved Gavin – he is just such a great guy, a gentleman ( wouldn’t take advantage that night as he thought Julie had too much to drink), he’s very friendly and yet he’s also a bit closed. Its clear he’s talented and very ambitious – he’s out to win, but he also shows some real feelings for Julie, and its hard for her to tell after a while if he’s pretending, and when her feelings get deeper then she’s even more puzzled. They veer from close to closed, affectionate to adversaries…its a see saw of emotions. Of course they’re still struggling to stay in, the competition is tough, and the decisions not always easy to understand with some heavy bias against Julie from one of the judges.
What I love about stories like this is the way they’re all different. Each one goes in a direction the reader doesn’t always expect, the obvious person isn’t necessarily the one to win, and we learn so much about all the characters as the plots unfold. Its not a story where its just the romance, but one where the competition is also very real, very integral to the tale that we read. The challenges were fun and I loved the descriptions of the clothes . Each book has surprised me, and made me think deeper about characters that my first thoughts. A highly recommended series.
Stars: Five, another great book and I look forward to more.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
