Friction, Sawyer Bennett

Friction,  Sawyer Bennett

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, Erotica

Classic Sawyer Bennet novel with sharp, succinct writing, witty dialogue and sensual, racy, sex scenes. Its an easy read, concentrating on the developing romance between opposing counsel Leary and Reeve and the case they are both working on. Its a difficult line to tread when they’re both working the same case, but the attraction between them is so searing that they just can’t wait.

I love Leary – she’s struggled and pulled herself into place from a very poor background. Its been a hard task, working as a woman in a traditional mans world, but she’s been supported all the way by the company owner,  a fabulous lady who has a reputation as a shark,  and who sees something of herself in Leary. I loved Leary’s first interaction with Reeve in the lift, that set the pace for what followed, a sexy and humorous read, but with real drama, genuine emotional pulls and with some real feeling ethical dilemmas. Its easy to see both sides, and clear how hard it is to stay detached when working on a case that is so sad.

The legalities are a bit different in format to what we have in the UK, but the generalities are much the same and its easy to follow. Sawyer doesn’t get bogged down on legal practicalities too much, just gives us enough to follow the story without getting overly technical. That way we can understand when Leary gets upset over something in the case, when Reeve isn’t sure what he should do, and where the conscience versus responsibility to client comes in.

Its got some great characters, not just Leary and Reeve, but Ford, Jenna and Leary’s boss. Thrown in some very erotic sex, a story that could be real and its another winner for Sawyer.

Stars: Five, a fun and sexy read, though not one I’d reread for a while.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
