Genre: Romance, Erotica
Well, another trademark hot and spicy read from Sawyer Bennet. In this genre she’s one of my favourite authors, a couple I’ve not got along with but in the main they’re all 4 and 5 star reads for me.
Once again the characters are great, feel real, act like genuine people. I need to feel that the plots and characters could actually happen, to feel as if I’m there “with them” kind of as an observer but living the action in the minute, and here it works for me.
I loved Cain, his unashamed revelling in his sexuality and enjoying his life. He’s had something happen that’s contributed to his “in the minute” live-life-now approach. He loves his job and takes it seriously, loves that his workmates are also his friends and loves his family. We meet his mum, who couldn’t love her!
Then we meet Sloane, and at first I found her cold blooded approach to tricking someone in pursuit of a story a bit hard to take. I really hate that kind of trickery, but when we meet her more we see she’s got her reasons, and of course when it seems like there isn’t anything to expose we see her try to persuade her boss to drop the story. He wants dirt though, and at a sex club he knows there’s scandal somewhere….
Sloane needed Cain as her way in, and manipulated events to get closer to him. Once there though she didn’t expect to like the man, to lust over him and to begin to regret they’d started under such pretences. She knows anything between them will be doomed if he finds out what she is doing. She’s kind of kidding herself she can make it work, persuade her boss there’s no story, keep her job, make things work with Cain. Cain never goes back for seconds, never dates, never has sex with the same lady twice unless its part of his role in the fantasy part of the club. He didn’t expect to want to see Sloane again, didn’t expect these feelings of wanting more with her. He’s holding secrets too, in his role in the sex club as part of the fantasy maker teams for one.
You can see all the way through that at some point worlds are going to collide, but they seem to miss getting revealed by the skin of their teeth until of course something slips, a mistake is made and then all gets revealed….Bang, and what drama then! I love it 😉 How can they get past that? Can they get past it? Or is it all too much, too much loss of trust, too much deception? Its tough and had a good long, slow comeback from the crisis part, and that works well for me. A great read, and I’m really wanting to read more of Bridger ( or as my mind keeps calling him Bridgr, ALA Grindr. Tumblr !!)
Stars: Five, another hot and sensual read from the Wicked Horse.
