Fade Into You, Tracy Wolff

amazon UK buy link

Genre:  Romance, Women’s Fiction.

I loved Tracey’s Ethan Frost and  Extreme Risk novels. I know nothing, Zilch, Nada about winter sports and snowboarding, and yet she had me hooked on reading about it in the Extreme stories, and then I saw this – Tracy Wolff and Rock Band novels, two of my must try hooks. Somehow I missed the first two Shaken Dirty stories, so I want to catch up with them sometimes, when there’s time, when the TBR gets shorter 😉

So, when this starts I found that Wyatt and Poppy get down and dirty very quickly and for the first quarter it seemed every few pages was another hot and heavy scene between them. Now I love sex in a story, when its well done and Tracey can do that but…I need the story to come first and for a while I thought this was going to be sex first story second 😦 thankfully I was wrong and about a third of the way through the pace picked up, the story really got going and drew me in to what difficult choices the characters had, the problems they’d faced in the past, and how that affected the now. Just the kind of read I love and which Tracey does so well, lots of drama that feels very real, and has me wondering “what now” and thinking how can they move on, get past that issue, what’s going to happen next.

I really liked Poppy, put in a difficult position, always been struggling against her misogynistic father, and having to deal with all the hands on company problems herself and let him think her brother had done it. It was the only way she’d get to do the things she loved, things she was good at and found satisfying. She a real music fan and perfect for the job but her dad believes women should stick to typing – that sort of guy. Sadly there’s still a lot like him in top jobs, and this is a family company and he calls the shots.  This time though its a real thin ice issue, her brother is supposed to be handling it but he and Poppy know he can’t, that its one she needs to deal with. They know though that their father will hate what they’ve done if he finds out. Wyatt and the band too can’t know who she really is, that her dad is the label’s CEO, and as things heat up between her and Wyatt she feels more and more guilty about her identity being a secret. Secrets always come out though and at the worst time, and Tracey makes it all happen with a huge bang here, its drama and action with everything feeling like its falling apart. Tracey’s characters always feel so real, the problems very genuine, I feel they could really have happened, and it means I so felt for them both, and yet could see exactly why they felt as they did.

A great read, bands and band stuff, music and all that fun it brings to a story, and a beautiful romance, packed with potential problems. Perfect!!

Stars: Five, a riveting, gripping read, and one to keep.
