Summer at Rose Island, Holly Martin

Summer at Rose Island,  Holly Martin

Genre:  Romance

I loved Holly’s 100 proposals and the follow up story, totally adored them, so was really looking forward to reading this one despite not having read earlier White Cliff Bay stories. I enjoyed this one but…nowhere near as much as I loved the 100 reads.

Its a good read, a story that flows well, is easy to follow and perhaps its just a little too easy for me, too light and gentle. I loved the characters in the village, loved Darcy and Riley was just *swoon*, but I didn’t really feel that magic pull they needed to each other. I could feel there was something, that they were attracted to each other but the story has them being hot and heavy very quickly, and well written though it was it just didn’t feel quite right to me…Not sure why but.

I wanted drama and there was some but it was subdued, and over quite quickly, and I love the long, drawn out drama reads. Its a book that’s great if you want one where you can read a few chapters and put it aside, its not one where I felt I just couldn’t out it down. In fact life’s been a little difficult the past couple of weeks, and other things have taken over my reading so I’ve had to do just that. In a story that really grips me I’d feel resentful at being torn away, but this was easy to out down, and equally easy to pick up and continue.
I guess its all dependent on what you want from a novel, non stop drama, story, and riveting sensuality, or a sweet romance with a decent, easy read, small town story attached.

Stars: three, a good story, easy to read and fun but a little light for me

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
