Finding You, Danielle Ryan

Finding You,  Danielle Ryan

Genre:  Romance,

I love Paige Toon’s novels so looked forward to this. well, it was an ok read for me but not the entrancing one I’d hoped for.

To begin James is a real jerk, very stereotypical manwhore, obsessed by appearances. Someone who looks at women and judges them on looks only. When he sees Valentina (Tina) he quickly dismisses her. I really disliked him. I liked Tina though, she was intelligent and didn’t see the need to dress to attract a man at work, kept that part of her life fully professional. After the last man in her life who proved to be something like James and not the man she thought, she doesn’t have any intention of starting anything with James. Intentions though….well, the road to Hell and all that 😉

So far so good, and to add to the fun there were some “great” bi tch characters among the ladies, and I do so love finding them! Sadly though as the story moved on it was for me just too predictable.
I picked up one major plotline the moment it happened, kept hoping maybe it was so obvious that it would be a “red herring” but no…and then the second big one became equally obvious to me, someone who was simply not as they appeared. Maybe I’ve just read too many books like this and that’s why I could see what was going to happen, but then again I’ve recently read some that have truly surprised me. There was an unexpected plot development towards the end, but TBH I didn’t really see the point of it and it wasn’t really explained how and why it happened.

So overall its a story that’s not a bad one, and I’m sure many readers will love it, but for me it just was a little generic and bland. An easy read, great for a long journey, or when you need a book you can put down and pick up later without having to re-read previous parts to catch up again, but a forgettable tale.
Sorry, but that’s how it goes, what some of us love others hate and vice versa, that’s the nature of reading, it’s very subjective. It won’t put me off the author, sometimes even those whose work we love turn out a story we don’t gel with, and it could be just this book, rather than Danielle’s style in general that hasn’t worked for me.
Its the first one of hers I’ve read but I’d happily try more as the plot sounded very good.

Stars: three, lots of potential but didn’t play out for me.

About jeanniezelos

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
